I was reading a book on the emergence of Nazi Germany. Hitler was democratically elected by the people because he promised a new era free of corruption. Then democratically independent institutions were stripped of their powers and made part of the goverment. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Thus emerged a dictator. I read that a senior Indian politician said if we win in 2019,we will be in power for another 50 years.I will accept a democratically elected government which may be corrupt to a dictatorial rule. Can't have another emergency. A goverment which upholds and respects independent institutions,protects the farmers,removes the insecurities of minorities and allows a common man to pursue his dreams and live in dignity without questioning his motives as to why he crossed the road is Welcome.It is not about the past or the present. It is about our future legacy.
